Wilton High School Student Liam Smith Wins Gold in Fencing

Wilton's Liam Smith won gold and silver medals in fencing at the Nutmeg State Games.

Wilton High School rising junior Liam Smith placed first in the Fencing Cadet (U17) Men’s Foil event at the Nutmeg State Games. The competition was held in Danbury on Monday, July 28. He beat out Samuel Bagdan in a very close match that ended in a 11-10 final score, giving Smith the gold medal.

On July 27, Smith won the silver medal in the Junior (U20) Men’s Foil event, losing 14-15 to Daniel Levitan.

Smith trains at Candlewood Fencing Center under the direction of coach Jeremy Goun.
