Wilton Library: Call For Artists

The 74th annual Wilton Artists Summer Show begins next month.

WILTON. CT -- Wilton Library is looking for Wilton artists for its 74th annual Wilton Artists Summer Show which runs throughout the library in July and August.

Adult artists who live or work in Wilton are invited to submit up to two works for this non-juried exhibition on Friday and Saturday, June 29 and 30, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The works may include paintings, pastels,
drawings and sculptures. With the exception of the sculptures, pieces must be framed and wired, ready for hanging. There are no entry fees; a 20 percent commission on sold works will apply.

Photography will not be accepted for this exhibition since photographers have the opportunity to share their works in the Wilton Arts Council Focus exhibitions that take place at the library in March each year (www.wiltonarts.org).

Ed MacEwen, art chairman for the library, said of this annual event, “This is a fun show to coordinate. It’s great to see artists returning every year, giving their friends and families a chance to see what they’ve been working on over the winter. We see new talent emerge every year, too, which is quite exciting.”

The artists’ reception is set for Friday, July 13, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. It is free and open to the public. The exhibition runs through Tuesday, Aug. 28. Most of the works will be available for purchase with a portion of the proceeds benefiting the library.
