Wilton Man Accused of Bribing Town Official: Police

Police say the man offered a cash bribe to a town official on Feb. 28.

WILTON, CT — A Wilton man was was arrested on Feb. 28 after police say he tried to bribe a town official, according to a Wilton police report.

Police say that Ioannis Papakosmas, 42, of Twin Oak Lane was arrested after he offered a cash bribe to the Director of Environmental Affairs for the town's Conservation Department to remove a bond for a corrective action wetland permit on his property. The town's Inland Wetland Commission holds a corrective action wetland permit for his property.

Papakosmas was charged with bribery. He posted bond and was released the same day, according to police.

He is due to appear in Norwalk Superior Court on March 10.
