Wilton Man Attempted to Break Down Locked Door During Domestic Incident: Cops

The man was charged and taken into custody.

A Wilton man was arrested after police say he attempted to break down a locked bedroom door where his family was hiding for safety.

Robert Smith, 51 was arrested on April 19 after a caller reported a possible domestic incident around 1 a.m. at a Wilton residence.

According to police, earlier in the night, Smith had become confrontational and was throwing things around the house. When another person at the home tried to keep two young children from witnessing the behavior, Smith’s behavior escalated and he attempted to break down a locked bedroom door.

When police arrived, they found Smith sleeping in his vehicle.

He was taken into custody and charged with disorderly conduct. He was given a $250 bond and a court date of April 20.
