Wilton Man Killed In Head-On Fiery Crash On Long Island: Police

The man was one of four victims in the fiery collision, authorities said, noting an electric Tesla made it harder to extinguish the blaze.

EAST MARION, NY — Police have identified four people — including a Wilton man — who died in a fiery head-on crash Friday night on Long Island.

William Price, 55, of Wilton; Heath Miller, 47, of Greenport, New York; and Peter R. Smith, 80, and Patricia A. O'Neill, 66, both of Brooklyn, died in the East Marion crash, Southold Town police said.

Price and Miller were traveling west on New York State Route 25 in a 2023 Tesla, and Smith and O'Neill were heading east in a 2020 Ford Explorer, police said.

Southold Town Police Chief Martin Flatley said because the Tesla is an electric car, it made extinguishing the blaze harder.

The crash took place just after 11:30 p.m. on Route 25, police said. It was being investigated by Southold detectives, authorities said.

A Suffolk County police emergency services unit as well as East Marion, Orient, and Southold fire departments responded, police said.
