Wilton Man, Norwalk Teen Accused After Guns Found Near Crash: Police

Police identified two men charged after officers investigated an early-morning crash in Wilton.

WILTON, CT — Police have identified two men arrested after officers investigating an early-morning crash in Wilton recovered firearms and ammunition.

According to the Wilton Police Department, officers responded to Old Kingdom Road around 4 a.m. on May 26 and found 19-year-old Macias Hugo Rivera of Norwalk and 20-year-old Christian Rueda of Wilton near the crashed vehicle.

Police said the men denied ownership of a nearby backpack. While investigating the bag, officers found two firearms and a large-capacity magazine. Authorities also reported finding ammunition in Rueda's pockets.

Rivera was charged with operating a motor vehicle while under suspension, evading responsibility, failure to drive in the proper lane, illegal possession of a large-capacity magazine and interfering with an officer.

Rueda was charged with carrying a pistol without a permit, failure to obtain a serial number for a firearm, illegal possession of a weapon in a motor vehicle and interfering with an officer.

Police said Rivera was released after posting bond. Rueda was unable to post bond and was held for arraignment.
