Wilton Man Reported As DUI By His Passenger: PD
The 911 call came from inside the van being driven by the DUI driver, police said.

WILTON, CT -- A homeless man was arrested for driving under the influence after his passenger called in to 911.
At approximately 2:13 p.m. on Saturday, June 23, police received a 911 call from a person who stated she was inside a green van being driven by a drunken person. The phone call was then disconnected. Police attempted to reconnect several times before the communication was re-established.
The complainant stated that the van was traveling on Old Belden Road near Kent Road heading toward the Route 7 Connector.

Wilton police initiated a traffic stop on the Exit 2 off-ramp. State troopers and Norwalk PD arrived on the scene for back-up.
The driver was identified as Jayson Shaw, 44, a Wilton resident with no fixed address. Police learned then that the 911 complainant was in the back of the van, along with another passenger.

Standardized field sobriety tests were administered to Shaw, who failed them, police said.
Shaw was arrested and charged with driving under the influence, with a blood alcohol level of 0.2419, according to police. He is scheduled to appear before Norwalk Superior Court on June 25.
