Wilton Motorist DUI Crashes Wall, Flees Scene: Police
The driver refused to submit to the standardized field sobriety tests and would later refuse a breath test.

WILTON, CT — Police arrested a man for crashing his car and leaving the scene of the accident.
On Saturday, police responded to a call from a passerby about an abandoned vehicle on Seeley Road, and determined the car had struck a stone wall. Officers found the driver, Robert J. Polo, 54, of Cherry Lane in Wilton, on Cannon Road walking toward Hurlbutt Street.
Police report they detected slurred speech, bloodshot eyes and "a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage" about Polo. He refused to submit to the standardized field sobriety tests and would later refuse a breath test.

Polo admitted to having been involved in the collision and said he left the scene of the accident "because he was scared," police said.

Police charged Polo with DUI, failure to keep right, operating a motor vehicle while holding a telephone, and property damage/evading damage. He was held on a $260 bond and scheduled to appear at Norwalk Superior Court on Sept. 18.
