Wilton Named One of the Safest Cities in America
The ranking is based off of FBI crime statistics and local police, public health and educational information.

Safewise, a community-focused security organization, created a list of the 100 safest cities in the country using the most recent FBI crime data from 2013.
The data was used to analyze and rank these cities, which all have a minimum population of 10,000 people.
Out of the 100 safest cities in the country, Wilton was ranked number 73.

Here’s why Wilton made the list, according to Safewise:
“Major corporations like Cannondale and Melissa & Doug help provide economic stability in Wilton. To help keep the community stable and safe, police coordinate free initiatives like the “Citizen Police Academy”—a 12-week program that teaches the public about crime detection and prevention.”

With a population of 18,803, Wilton received these rankings based on violent crimes and property crimes per 1,000 people.
Here’s how the City stacked up:
- Violent Crimes per 1,000: 0
- Property Crimes per 1,000: 6
According to the list, the safest town in America is Hibbing, Minnesota.
Ridgefield, New Canaan, Darien and Madison are other Connecticut towns that made it on the list.
