Wilton Police Arrest Danbury Man on Forgery and Drug Charges

Police stopped the man's car when they say it crossed the white fog lines on the road.

WILTON, CT — Police arrested a Danbury man on forgery and drug charges.

On Wednesday, June 19, at around 1:20 a.m., Wilton police stopped a motorist after he was observed crossing the white painted fog line while traveling south on Danbury Road near the intersection with Kent Road, according to a police report.

Police say the odor of marijuana was detected, and they initiated a search of the car. The search uncovered 0.801 ounces of marijuana packaged in 14 plastic bags, 19 empty plastic bags, one electronic cigarette containing THC, three previously smoked marijuana cigarettes, one smoking bowl, one package of rolling papers, and a fraudulent Connecticut state handicap placard.

The driver, Andre Ward of Clapboard Ridge Road in Danbury, and Jamaica, was found to be driving with a suspended license and no insurance, according to the police, who arrested him.

Ward was charged with possession of more than a half-ounce of marijuana, possession of marijuana with intent to sell, possession of drug paraphernalia with intent to sell, second degree forgery, driving with a suspended license, driving without insurance and failure to maintain the proper lane.

He is scheduled to appear in Norwalk Superior Court on July 1.
