On Feb. 21 at around 5:33 p.m., Wilton police officers were dispatched for a report of a car accident.
According to their report, a motorist in a 2023 Mercedes GLA was traveling eastbound on New Canaan Road towards the intersection with Trails End Road at an unknown speed, and lost control while navigating the curve right in the road. The Mercedes crossed the double yellow lines, continued off the road striking a guardrail, and then struck the entire right side of a 2024 Volkswagen Atlas SE idling at an intersection stop sign.
Police say the Mercedes driver, a 26-year-old Bridgeport woman, "decided to flee the scene when the other driver requested police respond to the accident."
Responding officers saw the Mercedes pulling into the parking lot of 240 Wolfpit Road.
During the investigation, police say the Mercedes driver said she was unaware she had hit any car, and "left the scene of the accident without reporting it because she has a hair appointment and is going on vacation the next morning."
Police charged the Bridgeport motorist with evading responsibility at the scene of an accident, driving without a license, driving without insurance, and failure to keep right on a curve. She was issued a misdemeanor summons and is scheduled to appeared before Stamford Superior Court on March 5.
