Wilton Police Arrest Log For Feb. 6-12

WILTON, CT — Three traffic stops that led to the Wilton Police Department filing more serious charges were at the top of the WPD blotter this past week.
Police report receiving multiple calls the evening of Feb. 11 about a car being driven erratically in the area of the Wilton High School. The white Honda Accord swerved "all over the road" and ran a red light on Danbury Road at the intersection of Ridgefield Road, according to police.
Upon investigation, police say they saw the driver, Cirino Castillo-Lopez, 41, of Ely Avenue in Norwalk, "displaying multiple signs of impairment." Traveling in the back seat of the car was Castillo-Lopez's 7-year-old son.

As the driver did not speak English well, police reached out to the New Canaan PD to send an interpreter to the scene.
Castillo failed sobriety testing with blood alcohol concentrations of 0.2364 and 0.2158, and police placed him under arrest. He was charged with DUI, DUI while transporting a passenger under the age of 18, failure to obey a control signal, failure to drive right, and failure to drive in the proper lane.

Police held Castillo-Lopez overnight on a $250 bond, and released him to his wife the next morning. He is scheduled to appear in Stamford Superior Court on Feb. 23.
On Feb. 8 at around 12:45 p.m., police stopped a 2008 Hyundai Elantra after its driver failed to signal a turn onto Danbury Road near Cricket Lane.
In their investigation, police learned that the driver, Giuseppe Sollenberger, 24, of Henry Street in Danbury, was driving with only a learner's permit. Further inquiry revealed that Sollenberger had a warrant for failing to appear in court for previous misdemeanor charges, according to police.
After police took Sollenberger into custody, they say they discovered a large amount of cash, drug paraphernalia, marijuana, and THC products inside his car.
Police charged Sollenberger with second-degree failure to appear, possession of more than 5 ounces of marijuana, possession of more than 5 ounces of marijuana with intent to sell, making an improper turn, driving without insurance, and driving without a proper instructor.
Sollenberger was release after he posted the total bond of $3,500 and was scheduled to appear at Torrington Superior Court on Feb. 22 for his failure to appear charge, and at Stamford Superior Court on Feb. 21 for the remaining charges.
Around 9 a.m. on Feb. 7 the police stopped a 2008 Toyota RAV-4 they say was displaying an illegible temporary registration, later determined to be fake.
Police say the driver, Damain Herrera, 29, of Acosta Street in Stamford, did not have a driver's license. Further investigation determined that Herrera had three warrants for failing to appear in court for previous misdemeanor and felony charges. Herrera was taken into custody, processed,
and charged with failing to respond to a violation, second-degree failing to appear, and first-degree failing to appear. He was also issued an infraction for driving without a license, and driving an unregistered vehicle.
Herrera, was scheduled to appear at Stamford Superior Court on Feb. 17.
