Wilton Police Arrest Ridgefield Man for DUI After Bar Fight

The man had stopped his car in the middle of the road, according to police

WILTON, CT — Police say they arrested a man for DUI on his way home from a bar fight.

At around 2:30 in the morning on Jan. 30, police pulled over a car that they found stopped in the middle of the westbound lane of Cannon Road, facing Danbury Road, just east of the railroad tracks.

Police confronted the driver, Luis Gutierrez-Perez, 38, of Ridgefield, and his passenger. Both men had blood on their faces and clothes, as a result of being involved in a bar fight in Stamford, the police report said.

The men were evaluated and cared for on scene by EMS personnel.

The passenger stated that Gutierrez-Perez was driving the vehicle, when the passenger suggested they stop for a bit to rest. Police say that Gutierrez-Perez appeared to be intoxicated and was taken into custody for driving under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs after failing to perform the field sobriety tests.

At Wilton PD headquarters, Gutierrez-Perez refused to submit to chemical testing. He was charged with DUI, and later released to a relative after posting the $260 bond

Gutierrez-Perez was scheduled to appear at Norwalk Superior Court on Feb. 11.
