Wilton Police Nab 2 for DUI

Both men were pulled over for driving infractions and later failed field sobriety tests, and were arrested.

WILTON, CT — Police arrested two men last week for driving while under the influence of alcohol.

Shortly after 9:00 p.m. on Sunday, Wilton police say they clocked a Nissan Altima moving at 78 mph in a 40 mph zone in the area of Danbury Road and Wilton Hills.

After they pulled the car over, police say they detected a "heavy odor of an alcoholic beverage" on the breath and person of the driver, Damian Pielesz, of Danbury Road in Wilton. Police report they gave Pielesz a field sobriety test, which he failed, and arrested him.

Pielesz was charged with speeding and DUI, with a blood alcohol concentration of 0.2240. No bond was issued. He is scheduled to appear in Norwalk Superior Court on July 31.

Earlier in the week, on Tuesday, police say they saw a Honda Accord driving over the fog line on Chestnut Hill Road. When they pulled the car over, police say that the driver, Efrain Ortiz, 46, of Bridgeport, showed "signs of impairment."

Ortiz failed a standardized field sobriety test, according to police, who placed him under arrest. He was charged with failure to drive in the proper lane and DUI.

Ortiz was held on $350 bond and scheduled to appear in Norwalk Superior Court on July 16.
