Wilton Police Nab Lexus Motorist For DUI, Speeding

WILTON, CT — Police stopped a motorist driving 60 mph in a 40 mph zone and later charged him with DUI.
On Aug. 20, at approximately 9:15 p.m., police radar pinged a 2024 Lexus NX 350 speeding northward on Danbury Road toward Wilton Hills.
A Wilton police officer followed the Lexus through the intersection with Westport Road and onward north, where the officer reported the car crossed over the yellow lines.

Police pulled the Lexus over at the intersection of Danbury Road and Gaylord Drive North.
The driver, John Tacconi of Burchard Lane in Norwalk, told police that he believed he was traveling on Route 135 in Norwalk. Tacconi admitted to drinking alcohol prior to getting behind the wheel of his car, and exhibited signs of impairment, including glassy/bloodshot eyes, slurred speech and the smell of alcohol on his breath, according to the police report.

The motorist failed to perform the standardized field sobriety tests to standard. He later submitted to chemical breath tests, during which he was found to have a blood alcohol content of 0.1610 and 0.1623. Connecticut residents 21 and older are considered to be legally intoxicated with a BAC of .08 or higher.
Tacconi was tentatively scheduled to appear before Stamford Superior Court on Sept. 13.
