Wilton Police Nab Man Wanted For Assault At Traffic Stop
Police stopped the car over an insurance issue, but then found more than they expected.

WILTON, CT — Police arrested a Danbury man wanted for assault following a routine traffic stop on Monday.
At 10:30 p.m., Wilton police spotted a gray Honda Accord with a registration suspended due to an insurance compliance issue. When officers stopped the car, they discovered the VIN number on the vehicle did not match the registration, according to their report.
The driver identified himself to police as Alex Vasquez, but said he had no proof of identification. A subsequent search of the vehicle revealed the driver's true identity was Asuel Q. Pujols Medina, 22, of 10 Clifton Place, Danbury, after his Connecticut Adult Learners Permit was recovered from under the front passenger side floor mat.

"The odor of marijuana was detected emanating from the vehicle and the occupants struggled to answer who the vehicle belonged to when asked," said Wilton Police Capt. Robert Cipolla.
A further records check revealed there was a warrant out on Pujols Medina for failure to appear in Bridgeport Superior Court, resulting from an arrest from the Trumbull Police for assault.

Pujols Medina was taken to Wilton PD HQ and was finger printed and charged with driving without minimum insurance, driving with a suspended license, and interfering with police. He failed to make his $5,000 bond and was scheduled to appear before Norwalk Superior Court the next day.
One of the passengers in the vehicle, Yeimy Mendez, 20, of South Morris Street, Dover, NJ, was
found to be in possession of a fraudulent Connecticut ID card. She was issued a misdemeanor summons charging her with third-degree forgery, and released on a promise to appear before Norwalk Superior Court on Feb. 28.
The registration on the vehicle was seized and sent to the DMV and the vehicle was impounded.
