On July 20, Hugo Matos, 48, turned himself in on an arrest warrant for charges of fourth-degree larceny and fourth-degree conspiracy to commit larceny.The charges stemmed from a June 4, 2022 incident where police say Matos and a woman accomplice walked off with over $1,000 of liquor from Caraluzzi's Wine &amp; Spirits at 920 Danbury Road without paying. Matos was held on a $25,000 bail and was scheduled to appear at Stamford Superior Court.

Come share your memories and stories for an upcoming true crime documentary about the 1970 Danbury bank robberies and bombings. The production team will sit down with you for a brief recorded interview, and you are welcome to bring along any historical photographs, clippings, or letters to be documented. Attendance is free and no appointment is required.

On February 13, 1970, three explosions tore through Danbury, CT.This was to be the finale of a stranger than fiction story, involving 2 brothers, that started in 1968 which involved bank robberies and murders in locations in Redding, Georgetown, and Vista, New York, as well as Missouri. Two of the murders were the brothers’ own father and grandmother. If you have info on any of the crimes committed in the aforementioned towns please contact the filmmakers or show up to the Danbury session .
Filmmaker, Blaze Mazur of Ridgefield, CT and Daniel J. Mulvihill, Jr., of Danbury, have extensively researched this story for over half a decade, having poured over thousands of pages of FBI files, National Archive materials, and filing FOIA requests with more than 20 agencies.They are still discovering many strange and unbelievable facts about this case and need local help from people who remember these crimes to bring the whole picture into focus before the memories of these crimes are lost forever. 
The pair will be holding a second “Tell Us What You Remember” session. The session will be on Friday, October 2 at the Danbury Museum also from 10am to 4pm. What the documentary makers are looking for are people who remember- a lead, a photograph, a clipping or those who want to give an interview on camera. They wish to tell this story truthfully so that the victims and their loved one, the witnesses and law enforcement are honored and their story is respected. 
To bring this film to full fruition, a fundraising effort is underway. The project is fiscally sponsored by Fractured Atlas, which makes your contributions and corporate donations tax-deductible.

Accompanied by pianist Piotr Kozłowski, Sidney will present the Connecticut premiere of 26 Ways of Looking at a Black Man, with music by B.E. Boykin and poetry by Raymond Patterson. About the Artists
Baritone Sidney Outlaw has been described by The Washington Post as a "generous &amp; expressive singer", The New York Times as a "terrific singer" with a "deep rich timber," and an internationally acclaimed vocalist for his "weighty and forthright" singing (San Francisco Chronicle). Since winning the Concurso International de Canto Montserrat Caballe in 2010, he has performed widely in the US and abroad. In the 2024/2025 season, Sidney performed recitals with pianist Warren Jones at the Brooklyn Art Song Society and The Manhattan School of Music. He debuted with the California Symphony, singing Beethoven's Symphony No. 9, and with the Bozeman Symphony, singing Mozart's Requiem. He also returned to the Jacksonville Symphony for Handel's Messiah. On the operatic stage, he reprises the role of Mozart in Le Nozze di Figaro and Don Giovanni with Pensacola Opera and Opera Philadelphia. Last year, Sidney released his album, Black Pierrot, featuring music by William Grant Still and Dr. B.E. Boykin, including the world premiere of 26 Ways of Looking at a Black Man, with text by poet Raymond Patterson (Commissioned by Merola Opera), which was recently nominated for a Grammy award. Sidney’s recent highlights include performances with Boston Baroque, Chattanooga Symphony, Toledo Opera, National Symphony and appearances at NYC’s Carnegie Hall and Avery Fisher Hall. He currently holds voice faculty positions at the Manhattan School of Music, The Conservatory at Brooklyn College (CUNY) and Teachers College, Columbia University, where he is pursuing his PhD in Music Education.&nbsp;
Piotr Kozlowski is a versatile Polish pianist and educator with a strong focus on chamber and contemporary music. He is deeply committed to creative programming and to presenting classical and contemporary repertoire. A laureate of chamber music and solo piano competitions, Piotr has performed widely across Europe and North America. He studied at the Fryderyk Chopin University of Music in Warsaw and completed his doctoral degree in piano performance at the Frost School of Music, University of Miami, where he also served as a Graduate Teaching Assistant under the mentorship of Kevin Kenner. As an Erasmus scholarship recipient, he studied chamber music with Avedis Kouyoumdjian at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna. He held fellowships at the Bowdoin International Music Festival and the Lunenburg Academy of Music Performance. Now based in New York City, Piotr maintains an active international freelance career. He has premiered works by Jonathan Howard Katz, Donald Scott Stinson, and other living composers. He serves as Staff Pianist at Manhattan School of Music, Piano Mentor at tonebase and has an affinity for Baroque, Classical and 20th-century repertoire.

Immerse yourself in William Shakespeare’s timeless tales on a scenic stroll through Bristow Bird Sanctuary. Professional actors and musicians bring to life beloved scenes and songs inspired by Shakespeare’s greatest works. Visitors may encounter the romance of Romeo &amp; Juliet, the whimsy of A Midsummer Night’s Dream, the magic of The Tempest, and the dark intrigue of Macbeth—complete with witches and sword fights—along with sonnets, madrigals, and more. Join us on a journey through nature and story.
Performance Details: This is an outdoor promenade-style experience where audience members are led down a walking path and encounter various Shakespearean vignettes. The total distance is less than a mile on a smooth gravel path with light gradation. The full experience is ADA accessible.
Groups of 15–20 will depart every 15 minutes from 11:00 AM–3:00 PM for a 45-50 minute traveling experience. Tickets Limited!

Westport, CT – Westport tends to produce top-notch musicians. Many have moved away and yet many want to return when invited to come home. Such is the case with award-winning singer/songwriter Lisa Bastoni. Lisa, a Westporter who now lives in Northampton and performs throughout New England, is coming home. 

Rozanne Gates and Suzanne Sheridan, the creators of First Folk Sunday, had seen Bastoni perform at the 2023 Back Porch Festival in Northampton, MA. They were impressed with her songwriting prowess, her musicianship, and her connection to the audience. They took a chance and invited her to be a guest artist at First Folk Sunday two years ago and now she is back by very popular demand. Originally not knowing that she was actually from Westport, Lisa told Rozanne, “I know you both. I was just a kid, but I was at the anti-war rally you organized in 2001on Jesup Green when Suzanne sang. I thought she was wonderful.” So, on October 4, 2026, Lisa and Suzanne will be singing together on a few select songs. This will mark the 25th anniversary of their musical history. Truly a cause for celebration.
Bastoni has come a long way since 2001. She has had much success in the folk world. She is a 2022 &amp; 2023 New England Music Award nominee (Roots), 2020 &amp; 2019 Boston Music Award Nominee (Folk) and winner of 2019 New Folk at the esteemed Kerrville Folk Festival. In addition to her work in music, Lisa is a visual artist and teacher, and mother to two children. 
In March 2024, Lisa released her CD, “On the Water” and Eric Danton had this to say, “She’s an evocative songwriter who sings with the wisdom of someone who hasn’t always come by her insight the easy way, and the ache in Bastoni’s voice contains as much compassion as it does sorrow. It’s a powerful combination, whether she’s singing about two inexperienced youngsters in way over their heads — “just babies, having a baby” — on “Honeymoon in Disneyland,” or brushing away her own tears on the waltz-time weeper “Only Goodbye” as she explores long-distance yearning with earthy harmony vocals from Mark Erelli. On the Water isn’t heartrending all the way through: Bastoni lets a droll sense of humor show, too, particularly on “Let’s Look at Houses.” Co-written with Willi Carlisle, the song has a honky-tonk feel with bold steel guitar licks from Rich Hinman and lyrics about holding hands, reprising youthful lust and ogling houses out of your price range. Elsewhere, Bastoni celebrates getting out and never going back on “Hometown” (with harmonies from Kris Delmhorst), and choosing a path based on love, even as doubts creep in, on the muted “Cheap Wine.” 
Taking a vital stand and singing with a critical message, Lisa wrote “There Are No Kings in America” which has been sung nationally at many No Kings rallies. Suzanne Sheridan sang this song at the March 28 No Kings rally on Jesup Green in Westport.

Full-Time Houseman &amp; Cook Needed &ndash; Westport, Connecticut
NON-LIVE-IN POSITION
 A private household of two in Westport, Connecticut is seeking an experienced, dependable full-time Houseman &amp; Cook for a long-term position.
This is a non-live-in position. The ideal candidate will have previous experience working in a high-end private residence and be comfortable handling a broad range of household responsibilities. We are looking for someone professional, discreet, trustworthy, and organized.
A competitive salary with health insurance benefits (upon completion of initial trial period) will be offered based on experience and qualifications.
Applicants must speak English well, be legally authorized to work in the United States, have a valid driver&rsquo;s license with a clean driving record, and have reliable transportation to and from work.
Experience and Skills Required for the Following Duties
<ul><li>General care, maintenance, and security of the residence</li><li>Household cleaning, including vacuuming, washing floors, and general upkeep</li><li>Ensuring proper operation of household mechanical systems and identifying maintenance needs</li><li>Overseeing vendors, contractors, and service appointments</li><li>Maintaining household vehicles and arranging service when necessary</li><li>Light gardening, lawn/property care, and seasonal outdoor work</li><li>Light snow removal as needed</li><li>Keeping the pool, patio, driveway, walkways, garage, and outdoor areas clean and orderly</li><li>Grocery shopping and purchasing household supplies</li><li>Running household errands</li><li>Driving household members to appointments, errands, and other destinations as needed</li><li>Experience and confidence driving in New York City is a must&nbsp;</li><li>Preparing good-quality everyday meals</li><li>Maintaining a clean and organized kitchen</li><li>Formal table service knowledge is a plus</li><li>Assisting with miscellaneous household projects and tasks as needed</li></ul>
Applicants should preferably have at least three years of experience working as a houseman, household manager, estate caretaker, or similar position in a private residence.
The ideal candidate should be a non-smoker, have a professional appearance and demeanor, respect the privacy and confidentiality of the household, and be comfortable working independently.
This is a five-day-per-week, full-time position( Tuesdays &amp; Wednesdays off) and is intended for someone seeking stable, long-term employment with a private household.
A household vehicle will be provided for work-related driving; however, the employee must have their own reliable transportation for commuting to and from the residence.
