DUI Motorist Accused Of Crashing Into Mailbox: Wilton Police

First responders found a 2024 Kia Seltos had backed into a residential mailbox, police said.

WILTON, CT — Police arrested a Newtown woman who is accused of DUI shortly after midnight on April 1, police said.

The Wilton Police Department got the call at 12:08 a.m. and reported to the area of 162 Range Road. There they found a 2024 Kia Seltos had backed into the home's mailbox.

During the investigation that followed, the officers determined that the woman motorist, 26, of Head Of Meadow Road in Newtown, was exhibiting several signs of alcohol impairment, according to their report.

The motorist failed standardized field sobriety tests. She was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs, and failure to drive in the proper lane. She refused chemical testing.

Police released the driver on a promise to appear at Stamford Superior Court on April 15.
