Weston Police Report Vehicle Break-ins

A neighbor caught the crime on video, police say.

WESTON, CT -- Police are investigating a theft from two motor vehicles.

On July 2, Weston police received a report of a larceny from two motor vehicles parked at 3 Smith Ridge Road. Upon arrival, the officer was shown a Jeep Wrangler and a Chevy Suburban.

The Jeep had its hard top removed and the glove box and other compartments showed signs of being rifled through, according to police. The owner reported that a one hundred dollar bill was missing from the car.

The Suburban had been left unlocked, and the glove box and other compartments again showed signs of being rifled through, according to police. The owner reported that he was missing a few gift cards from the car, totaling approximately fifty dollars.

The police investigated video footage captured by a neigbor's outdoor camera, which showed a car driving up the victim's driveway between 12:30 and 1:30 that morning. The footage did not show any suspects or distinguishing marks on the vehicle.

The officer canvassed the neighborhood but could not find any other footage or witnesses.
