Wilton Police Seek Suspect After Attempted Home Break-In

WILTON, CT — Police are asking for the public's help identifying a person accused of attempting to break into a Wilton home Wednesday night.

According to the Wilton Police Department, officers were notified at approximately 9:45 p.m. June 17 by a resident who reported seeing an individual attempting to enter their home on surveillance cameras.

Officers immediately responded to the area, searched the property and began canvassing the neighborhood for the suspect.

K-9 teams from the Westport and Ridgefield police departments also responded and conducted a track of the area, police said.

The investigation remains ongoing, and detectives are attempting to identify the individual captured in surveillance images. Police said the suspect is believed to have been driving a dark-colored small SUV or hatchback.

The attempted break-in is the latest in a series of residential crime investigations in Wilton this month, though police have not indicated whether the cases are related.

Earlier this month, police sought surveillance footage after a burglary was reported in a Wilton neighborhood. Authorities have also investigated a stolen vehicle case that police said was linked to multiple residential break-ins.

Authorities reminded residents to lock doors and windows, use motion-activated lighting and install security cameras whenever possible.
