Wilton Residents Vote In Favor Of Budgets, Breweries & Bondables
Along with passing with all budgets and bonded items, Wilton voters approved a resolution allowing breweries to serve and sell in town
WILTON, CT — Wilton residents approved the proposed 2024-25 operating budget for the town and schools, as well as all bonded items and the one resolution on the ballot at Tuesday's and Saturday's vote gatherings.
The combined town and schools budget for 2024-25 fiscal year is $140.3 million, a 4.0 percent increase from 2024. At the polls this week, 707 voters approved, 394 rejected it as being "too high," and 11 rejected the spending plan as "too low." The $35.7 million Board of Selectmen’s budget is a 3.7 percent increase, and the Board of Education's $93.2 million budget a 4.5 percent increase over last year's spending plans.
A resolution creating a legal permit system enabling breweries to make their beer in Wilton for on-site and takeaway consumption passed 966 to 150.

Turn out was sparse, as it traditionally has been. Of the 12,549 residents eligible to vote, 1,124 cast ballots, or 8.9 percent.
