Wilton School Officials Respond to Sexual Assault Allegations Against Teacher
Dr. Leonard, the teacher in question, has been suspended pending the results of the investigation.

Wilton school officials responded to the arrest of Thomas “TJ” Leonard, a teacher at Middlebrook school.
Leonard, 37, of Southbury, was found in a car on Feb. 10 in the Trumbull Cinema parking lot with a 14-year-old boy, according to Trumbull Police. He was arrested for allegedly sexually assaulting a minor.
“This news comes as an incredible shock to our entire school community. Dr. Leonard has worked in Wilton for many years and has developed a very positive reputation as a teacher,” Superintendent of Schools Kevin J. Smith said in a statement to Wilton parents. “If the allegations are true, Dr. Leonard violated the trust of all in the Wilton Public Schools and throughout our community.”

School officials are cooperating with police and Leonard has been suspended pending an investigation.
The Middlebrook School administration has mobilized the school’s mental health staff to create a support plan for students, families and staff members.

Smith said in the statement that he wanted to make sure the community was aware of the situation as it had been reported by local media adding that as more information becomes available the community will be updated.
