Wilton Student Honored at 'Young American' Awards

FAIRFIELD, Connecticut- The Western Connecticut Military Officers Association (WCMOA), Quest Diagnostics and Patriot Bank, N.A., honored high school seniors at the 2020 Young American Awards presentation held on Sunday, 7 June 2020. This prestigious program recognized high school seniors, nominated from 24 Fairfield County high schools, who demonstrated outstanding leadership, academic success and community service at the first "virtual" awards ceremony in the 45 year history of the awards.

This year,$14,500 in scholarship awards were given to our nominees. Please join us in congratulating the following award winners:

“We are proud of these exceptional young men and women who have endured so much during their Senior year,” said Al Smith, First Lieutenant, US Army (retired), President of WCMOA. “As veterans, our members fully appreciated the ‘can do’ spirit that has driven these young adults to excel – and we did not let anything, including a pandemic, prevent us from honoring them and their families.”

Western Connecticut Military Officers Association is a non-profit organization founded in November 1958, currently celebrating its 61th year. Its goals are to stimulate “love of country” as well as supporting and defending the US Constitution. Its membership consists of women and men who served as officers in all branches of the Armed Services in both peace time and war. The WCMOA Young American Awards program is in its 45th year of supporting the education of young Fairfield county patriots.
