May 2 - 7 is Teacher Appreciation Week and many area retailers are offering freebies and deals on food, clothing, books and more.

WILTON, CT — May 2 - 7 is Teacher Appreciation Week and plenty of area retailers are offering freebies and deals. Some discounts are available all week, others for a single day. Read the description to learn more.

Here's a look at some of the deals and discounts being offered to teachers. Click on the store name to find locations:

Banana Republic: Teachers get 15 percent off their purchase. Valid in store only. ID needed.

Barnes and Noble: Teachers get 20 percent off the publisher’s list price every day on all purchases for classroom use and 25 percent off the publisher’s list price during Educator Appreciation Days.

Big Y: Teacher Appreciation Day is being held at Big Y on Tuesday, May 3, 2016. Tell your cashier you're a teacher and you'll receive a free gold coin. No purchase necessary. Valid with your Express Savings Club® or Silver Savings Club® Card. One coin per teacher. Valid May 3, 2016 Only.

Chick-fil-A: Some locations will be offering freebies to teachers but giveaways vary by location. Brookfield Chick-fil-A is giving away free sandwiches to teachers who show their teacher ID.

Chipotle: Teachers, faculty and staff can buy one get one burrito, bowl, salad or tacos on Tuesday, May 3. ID needed. Offer valid from 3pm–close.

J. Crew: Teachers get a 15 percent discount in stores, with valid ID.

The Limited: Teachers get 15 percent off their purchase. Valid in store only. ID needed.

McDonalds: McDonald's stores will offer teachers a free breakfast on Teacher Appreciation Day, May 3 between 6 and 8 a.m. ID required. Check with your local restaurant.

Michael's: Teachers can get a coupon for 15 percent off a purchase.

New York & Company: Teachers and nurses get 30 percent off their purchases through May 3.
