Wilton Volunteer Ambulance Corps (WVAC) to Host EMT Certification Course

Now is the chance to really give back to your community. YOU can save lives! Become an EMT. Help people in need. Make a difference! This course meets all National Registry and Connecticut requirements. Upon successful completion of the course, students will be eligible to take the National Registry Exam and State practical exams. This course is offered in conjunction with Norwalk Hospital.

WHEN: February 20th through June 16th. Classes will be held Tuesdays & Thursdays from 6pm – 10pm plus 1 Saturday each month from 9am-5pm.

WHERE: Comstock Community Center – 180 School Rd., Wilton, CT 06897

COST: $975 which includes books. 100% of the cost of the class is reimbursable if the student joins the Wilton Volunteer Ambulance Corps, and remains an active member in good standing after 1 year.

REGISTRATION: Register at the Wilton Parks and Rec website at www.wiltonparksandrec.org. Course code is 9792. Registration is now open, but class size is limited so don’t delay!

MISCELLANEOUS:

  • There are no immunization or physical requirements for this class. However immunizations are required by OSHA should student decide to work in the EMS system.

  • Student must be physically able to perform required skills (CPR, splinting, spinal immobilization).

  • Good reading skills are required, extensive didactic material.

  • There will be quizzes at each class meeting to assess whether student is retaining information.

  • Student must pass a written & practical exam to pass class.

  • Student must be at least 16 years old, at time of State exam to be EMT.

  • Students will spend 4 hours of Norwalk Hospital ER observation time.

  • Clinical time on Norwalk Ambulance with at least 10 patient contacts.
