Wilton Y Wahoos Launch Breast Cancer Charity Events
The events will be held to coincide with hosted swim meets.

The Wilton Y Wahoos swim team will hold a two fundraising events during Breast Cancer Awareness month. The team is working in partnership with the Get in Touch Foundation and the Connecticut affiliate of Susan G. Komen organizations to raise funds and awareness.
The Wilton Y Wahoos will host two swim meets to raise money for the two Connecticut-based organizations. According to a release, The Wilton Y Wahoos are “looking to do their part making an impact on the fight against breast cancer.”
The Wahoos have also teamed up with Kastaway Swimwear, based out of Danbury, to sell pink swimwear and clothing. One hundred percent of the profits of the sales will go to benefit the Get in Touch Foundation and Komen Connecticut.

Get in Touch Foundation’s mission is to provide breast health initiatives that educate people of all ages on how to “get in touch” with their bodies, to fight against breast cancer.
Susan G. Komen Connecticut’s primary focus is is to educate Connecticut men and women on the importance of self breast exams and early detection. By funding free screening services and providing support to those who are diagnosed with breast cancer, Komen Connecticut hopes to put an end to the disease.

The Wilton Y Wahoos’ fundraiser will be held October 18 - 19 and October 25 - 26 at the Wilton Family YMCA.
“Giving back to the community has long been an integral part of the Wilton Family YMCA,” said Bob McDowell, Executive Director. “To witness how our children in the swim team are giving back by raising money and awareness is really motivational and heart-warming.”
