Woman, Driving with Child, Charged with DUI: Police

Police nabbed the woman after concerned residents reported seeing a car nearly hitting other cars .

WILTON, CT — Police responding to 911 calls on Thursday around 6 p.m. about an erratic driver nearly hitting other cars stopped the driver right before she pulled into her driveway. The woman, Melissa Calafell, 51, of Wolfpit Road in Wilton, was driving with a 13-year-old inside the vehicle.

Calafell failed to perform Standardized Field Sobriety Tests to the standard, was arrested and trnsported to Wilton Police Headquarters.

At the station Calafell refused to give a breath sample. She was charged with DUI and DUI with a child under the age of 18. She was released after posting $500 bond and given a court date of Nov. 13 at Norwalk Superior Court. The juvenile was brought home and turned over to her father.
