WINDSOR, CT — A 22-year-old Meriden man was killed Tuesday morning in a crash involving a car and a tractor-trailer on Interstate 91 south in Windsor, according to Connecticut State Police.
Frank Jason Mute, 22, of Meriden, was pronounced dead at the scene, state police said.
The crash happened shortly before 11:20 a.m. on I-91 south, north of Exit 35B, according to state police and the Connecticut Department of Transportation.
State police said a Mercedes-Benz was traveling behind a Volvo VN tractor-trailer in the center lane when it struck the rear of the tractor-trailer.
The crash closed I-91 south between exits 36 and 35B for several hours Tuesday. The road has since reopened, according to CT DOT.
The Connecticut State Police accident reconstruction team, known as CARS, responded to the scene.
The case remains under investigation.

State police are asking anyone who witnessed the crash to contact TFC John Wilson #1060 at john.wilson@ct.gov. Drivers with dashboard cameras who were traveling through the area at the time of the crash are also asked to contact Wilson.
