WINDSOR, CT — Windsor residents looking for fireworks, concerts and other Independence Day events have several options nearby as Connecticut communities mark July 4 and America’s 250th anniversary.
The Fourth of July falls on a Saturday in 2026, creating a long holiday weekend from July 3-5. Patch has compiled a guide to fireworks and holiday celebrations around Windsor, including events in Hartford and Tolland counties.
In Windsor, local 250th Celebration activities originally scheduled for July 2 were postponed to Thursday, July 9, due to forecasted high temperatures. Other fireworks displays and Independence Day events are scheduled across the region before, during and after the holiday weekend.

The 2026 Independence Day season is part of a broader national commemoration of the signing of the Declaration of Independence and the country’s 250th anniversary.
America’s Block Party is one of the national initiatives tied to America 250, the congressionally chartered nonprofit overseeing the semiquincentennial celebration.
A Times Square Ball Drop is planned as part of the “Giving 4th Broadcast Benefit Show,” with a rolling series of ball drops timed to midnight on July 3 in every U.S. time zone.
A time capsule will be buried in Philadelphia and opened in 2276. Organizers said it will include contributions connected to the federal government, states, Washington D.C. and U.S. territories.
Other national events include the Great American State Fair on the National Mall, the July 4 Salute to America Fireworks, “Sail 4th 250” in New York Harbor and Rushmore 250.
