Annual Canoe Race Benefits the Windsor Food and Fuel Banks

The tenth annual Kiwanis Canoe Race was held on October 11 on the Green in Windsor. The Canoe Race collects food and cash that benefits the Windsor Food and Fuel Banks. Despite the heavy rain this year’s collection netted 2,688 pounds of food and $5,831 in cash. The Windsor Kiwanis, Windsor Women’s Club, Windsor Jaycees, Boy Scout Troop 149, Cub Pack 149 and the Town of Windsor Employees all participated into the collection. The Windsor Women’s Club was awarded the Best Dressed canoe and contributed the most food. The Town employees had the largest combined food and cash contribution. In ten years the event has collected over 27,000 pounds of food and $30,000 cash.
