Connecticut Lawmaker Receives Death Threats for Parking in Handicap Spot
The representative's BMW was photographed in a handicap parking space at a Dunkin' Donuts.
State Representative Brandon L. McGee has received several threats, including some death threats, following the uproar caused when he parked his blue BMW in a handicap spot at a Dunkin Donuts parking lot, according to WTNH News 8.
Somebody took a photo of McGee’s car parked in the handicapped spot on Friday and then sent it to WFSB 3.
After the photo started making the rounds on social media on Monday, McGee (who represents the 5th District, including parts of Windsor and Hartford) issued an apology on Facebook, according to WFSB.

WFSB reports McGee wrote the following apology on Facebook:
“Thank you for holding me accountable. The other day (Friday to be exact) I made my usual run to D&D and was in a hurry... parked in a handicap parking space... Major no-no. So for the record, I respect the disabled and people in general. What I should have don was NOT park in a handicap parking space.”

However, due to an onslaught of derogatory comments that followed, McGee took down the post on Facebook, according to WTNH.
“I did something that was stupid and wrong and I apologize to those who are actually in need of a handicap space,” McGee told WTNH, while adding that the threats are getting out of hand.
McGee was sworn into his second term as the state representative of the 5th District on Jan. 7 and was appointed to serve as Vice Chair of the Human Services Committee, according to the Connecticut House Democrats website.
According to his biography, McGee served in his first term as a member of the legislature’s Judiciary, Human Services, and Labor and Public Employees committees.
McGee, is a native of Hartford and serves as Director of Network Development at Urban Alliance Inc.
