Internationally-Renowned Textile Artist Ed Johnetta Miller to Work with Windsor Fifth-Graders at JFK

Internationally-recognized fiber artist, quilter, teacher, curator and lecturer Ed Johnetta Miller will come to work directly with fifth graders in their art classes. Ms. Miller’s work represents cultures from around the world and her quilts can be found in The National Gallery of the Smithsonian Institution in Washington, D.C., Nelson Mandela's National Museum in Cape Town, South Africa, the Wadsworth Atheneum Museum of Art in Hartford, and other important public and private collections.

Ms. Miller will show and explain the meaning behind quilts that she and other artists have created. She will tell how she collects materials from around the world, including work with fabric artists in Africa.

As part of their classes, students will create a collage of papers in a quilt-like style, to better understand the process.
