Free Memorial Day Passes and Last-Minute Party Ideas

All of this can be found in and around Windsor today, May 29, 2011.

1. According to Weather.com, the forecast for Windsor calls for a high of 82ºF, under mostly-cloudy skies. The overnight low will be 65ºF with a 30-percent chance of isolated thunder storms.

2. The recently honored several women who have reached their 25-years (or more) milestones as club members. Barbara (Muff) Fowler, May Checho, Maureen Fernandes, Mary Long, Marge Jageler, Barbara Burns, Peg Shea, Ann Cecere, Margaret Putnam, Claire Dallesander, Betty McDermott, Janet Allen, Ann Walsh, Marie Bruhn and Liz Paklos were all . 

3. Also honored recently were three Windsor teachers, who were named by the National Math and Science Initiative. The three Windsor High School Advanced Placement teachers are Joseph Mancino, AP Physics B Teacher; Kathleen Pointek, AP Calculus AB teacher; and Samuel Scheer, AP English Language and AP English Literature Teacher. In addition to being the only Connecticut school with teachers honored with this recognition, Windsor High School is the only school in the entire competition to have all three of its entrants win. 4. In honor of Memorial Day, veterans and active military personnel will receive free general admission to the today. Guests attending with veterans or military personnel will receive half off on admission (maximum of 3 discounted admissions.) Visit the Connecticut Children’s Museum and Roaring Brook Nature Center online for more details.

In addition to these two facilities, the is also offering free admission through Monday to those who are serving, or have served, plus fire, police and EMS/EMT personnel. Immediate family members who accompany these service personnel or have a family member currently deployed overseas will enjoy half off general admission.
