Hairdresser on Fire Hosts Fundraiser for Windsor High School Art Department Scholarship Fund on 9/13/14

The owners of Hairdresser on Fire have joined the REAPStreet Pop up Arts Fest to bring art to Windsor Center while raising funds for the Windsor High School Art Department Scholarship Fund. The event will take place at Hairdresser on Fire, 176 Broad Street, in Windsor, on Saturday, September 13, from 4:00 – 7:00 pm., and will showcase the art of Windsor artist Katherine Pelkey-Tolve.
Bear’s Smokehouse Barbeque will be catering the fundraiser, accompanied by culinary contributions from Dom’s Broad Street Eatery, Faddy’s Donuts, Family Pizza, Get Baked, Moneta Moments, Nat Hayden’s and Windsor 75.
In addition to food and art, there will be a wealth of wonderful raffle prizes. Prizes were contributed by local businesses including: Ashley’s Distinctive Jewelry, Big Y, Body Graphics, Chilis, Colors Art Space, East Heaven Hot Tubs & Spa, Geissler’s, Ginza’s Japanese Cuisine, Hairdresser on Fire, Home Depot, Jordan’s Florist, Longhorn Steakhouse, Mahaney’s Breakfast, Outback Steakhouse, Price Chopper, Bill Selig Jewelers, Snellgrove’s Florist, Stoneage Rock Gym, Sweet Frog Frozen Yougurt and Wilson Pizza.

“We are not only business owners here in Windsor, we’re residents. We love the diversity and the energy of this community, and want to support the school and the creativity that is so prevalent here,” said James Boone-Gleason, co-owner of the salon and spa. “This is one way that we can give back, while celebrating at the same time.”
The Windsor High School Jazz Quartet will be on hand to contribute to the festive atmosphere. These award-winning teens will amaze and delight you as you sample hors d’oevres and explore the artwork on display. Proceeds from the raffle ticket sales will benefit the Jazz Quartet.

“Windsor is a tight-knit community with a strong focus on the next generation. Gathering artists and residents together is a great way to raise funds and raise awareness of area businesses. When people hear how successful they have become, they want to contribute,” said William Gleason, co-owner. “That is one of the things that is so great about this town.”
This event is open to the public. Suggested donation is $5, and will go toward the Arts Scholarship Fund and an entry into the raffle. Additional raffle tickets will also be available for purchase.
Hairdresser on Fire is located at the corner of Broad Street and Route 75. The full-service salon opened in 2002, and offers hair design and color, manicure and pedicures, massage, make-up and style services.
