Springfield College Social Sciences Department Distinguished Senior Award
Springfield College senior Ashley Nicole Santos of Windsor earned the Springfield College Social Sciences Department Distinguished Senior Award.

Santos received the honor at the recent Springfield College Academic Awards held on campus. The Distinguished Senior Awards are presented annually to graduating students who have performed consistently well in the classroom. The award recipients are chosen by their respective peers in their individual department.
Phi Alpha Theta National Honor Society

The Assumption College Department of History has announced that Kathleen Tanguay of Windsor has become a member of Phi Alpha Theta, the History National Honor Society. Tanguay, Class of 2016, was inducted into the honor society on Wednesday, April 6.
"We are excited to welcome the new members to Assumption's chapter of Phi Alpha Theta," said Mark Z. Christensen, Ph.D., assistant professor of history and the honor society's advisor. "It is with great pride that we recognize this group of students for their hard work, discipline, and love for this field of study."
Phi Alpha Theta is a national honor society for undergraduate and graduate students and professors of history. The society has over 350,000 members and 860 local chapters. Assumption College's chapter, Alpha-Epsilon-Rho, was established in 1991. To qualify, undergraduate students must complete a minimum of four courses in history, achieve a minimum grade point average (GPA) of 3.1 in history and a GPA of 3.0, or better, overall.
Theatre Students Perform at CREATE Conference
More than 250 talented students at Eastern Connecticut State University presented research and creative work at the university's second annual CREATE conference this past April. CREATE stands for Celebrating Research Excellence and Artistic Talent at Eastern, and is the university's premier, academic year-end showcase. At the culminating event, students of all majors presented professional posters, live music, dance performances, artwork, photography, documentaries and panel discussions.
Anthony Piccione '16 of Windsor, who majors in Theatre, performed at the conference. Piccone's performance, presented alongside classmate Sinque Tavares, was titled "Neo-Melodrama - Reviving and Renovating Old Theatre For New Times."
Pi Gamma Mu Honor Society at Scranton
Rachel Poirier of Windsor was among The University of Scranton students inducted into Pi Gamma Mu, the international honor society in social science. For induction into the honor society, students must be of junior academic standing, maintain an overall grade point average of 3.4 or higher, and have completed at least 21 credits in the disciplines of economics, human services, psychology, sociology, political science or history. The University's chapter of the honor society was established in 1971.
Poirier is a sophomore majoring in psychology at the Jesuit university.
Early Childhood and Elementary Education Award at Champlain College
Julianna Pratt of Windsor received an Early Childhood and Elementary Education Award at Champlain College's Division of Education and Human Studies Honors Night on Wednesday, April 20 at Champlain College's campus in Burlington, Vt.
