Karen Anne O’Brien, M.D., 55, of Lititz, PA, passed away unexpectedly of heart failure at her home on August 12, 2015.
Formerly of Windsor, CT, Karen was born in Hartford on July 5, 1960 and was a graduate of Loomis Chaffee School. She graduated from Smith College and later received her medical degree from Baylor College of Medicine in Texas.

Karen relocated to Pennsylvania to complete her residency in family medicine and settled in Lancaster County. She enjoyed nature and being outdoors as well as researching and cataloging the genealogies of both the O’Brien and Hoskins families.
In addition to her family medicine practice, Karen’s creative interests included painting, knitting, crocheting, and sewing.

Karen is survived by her parents, Robert H. O’Brien and Sarah Hoskins O’Brien of Windsor, a sister Cathleen O’Brien of Framingham, MA, a brother James O’Brien and wife Cathy of Midland, MI; a niece, Kristin O’Brien, OD and nephews, Michael and Christopher O’Brien and Jacob, Dylan, and Marcus O’Brien.
Private services will be held at the convenience of her family and in lieu of flowers, her family kindly requests memorial donations be made to the charity of one’s choice.
