• Why Windsor's Shad Derby May Be At Risk (patch.com) — Windsor's signature Shad Derby festival could fade away within five years unless more residents step up to volunteer, town councilors warn. With aging organizers and other civic groups dissolving, council members are urging locals to get involved now so the 2027 Derby and its many events on the Town Green can keep thriving.
   

• Hartford Lottery Player Scores $100K Scratch-Off Prize (shorenewsnetwork.com) — A Windsor convenience store just sold a $100,000 winning CA$HWORD scratch-off ticket, according to the Connecticut Lottery. While the lucky player lives in Hartford, the prize highlights S S Quick Mart in Windsor as the winning retailer, with the claim recorded on Sept. 30 and few other details released.
   

• Driver Killed in I-91 Crash in CT (jems.com) — A fatal crash on I-91 south in Windsor Thursday afternoon killed a 44-year-old Enfield man after his SUV hit another vehicle and rolled into a guardrail. Windsor EMS took him to Hartford Hospital, where he died, and state police are asking anyone with information or dashcam footage from the Exit 36 area to contact Troop H.
