Poquonock for Puerto Rico Pancake Breakfast

Staff and volunteers raise over $1,100.00 for Puerto Rico Relief

Puerto Rico suffered much loss because of Hurricane Maria on September 20th. With it raining over 30 inches and the 100% loss of electricity to the whole Island, Poquonock School came together and showed their "Star Promise" to "Be Kind" and to "Work Hard." Students learned about the affects of the hurricane in a school assembly and made the Puerto Rico flag that would be used at the upcoming pancake breakfast.

Staff, families, and local businesses (Price Chopper, BJ's, & Costco) donated items to be used for the Pancake Breakfast which would receive monetary donations to help in the Puerto Rico Relief.

Poquonock School held their "Poquonock for Puerto Rico Pancake Breakfast" on Saturday morning, November 18th. Staff and volunteers made and served pancakes raising over $1,100.00.

Joan Bolton, a community member said, " It was a win all around--for us your guests, you and the Poquonock staff, our community, and the beautiful island which has suffered so much."
