Windsor Man Charged In Shooting, Stolen Vehicle Cases, Police Say
A man was arrested on a litany of charges and held on a combined $725,000 bond, police said.
WINDSOR, CT — A Windsor man was arrested recently in connection with a shooting in Groton as well as a separate stolen motor vehicle case, police said.
City of Groton police responded Tuesday to a report of a stolen license plate taken from a vehicle parked near the Fieldside Apartment Complex.
Police found the stolen plate was on a different vehicle in the same area. Police later determined that the vehicle had been reported in stolen in New London recently.

A short time later, police received a call from the victim of the stolen license plate who reported that a man had returned to the area to find the stolen car missing. Police identified that man as Taquez Scott, 22, of Windsor.
Police held an active arrest warrant for Scott and were able to link him to the stolen motor vehicle.

Officers tracked Scott to the apartment complex on Fieldside Drive. Scott was arrested without incident, and police said he had a gun and ammunition.
The arrest warrant for Scott was tied to a Dec. 1 shooting incident at the Branford Manor apartment complex, police said.
In the stolen vehicle case, Scott was charged with criminal possession of a firearm, criminal possession of ammunition, possession of a large-capacity magazine, carrying a pistol without a permit, larceny of a motor vehicle, and theft of a number plate.
In connection with the shooting, he was charged with first-degree assault, illegal discharge of a firearm, criminal possession of a firearm, and reckless endangerment.
He also had two additional arrest warrants for violation of probation.
Scott was held on a combination of cash/surety bonds totaling $725,000. He was arraigned in New London court on Wednesday.
