
Margaret (Poirier) Couture, 82, of Tolland, loving wife of over 37 years to Joseph Couture, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 13, 2016 with her family at her side.
Born in Moncton, New Brunswick, Canada, the daughter of the late Benjamin and Aldona (Cormier) Poirier, she grew up in Canada and lived in Barre, VT and Hartford before moving to Tolland 16 years ago. Prior to her retirement in 2000, Margaret was employed at the former Jupiter Stores in downtown Hartford and the former K Mart in Windsor for 25 years. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and friend who enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, animals, feeding the birds and going to tag sales. Margaret looked forward to going to their camp in Vermont. She loved being in the outdoors.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by her children, Vern Tyler, Jr. and his wife Maria of Hebron, and Sandra Ziegler of East Hartford; two step-daughters, Doreen Gastringer of Tolland, and Donna Gastringer of East Hartford; nine grandchildren, Christopher, Amy, Lani, Chad, Kristy, Nicole, Brian, Jimmy and Tracey; ten great grandchildren; a brother, Joseph Poirier and his wife Patricia of Tolland; a sister, Claudette Poirier of Tolland, and many nieces and nephews.

Her family will receive friends for calling hours on Monday, April 18, 2016 from 4 – 7 p.m. at the Ladd-Turkington & Carmon Funeral Home, 551 Talcottville Road (Route 83), Vernon. Family and friends may gather at the funeral home on Tuesday, April 19, 2016 at 10 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. at St. Bernard Church, 25 St. Bernard Terrace, Rockville. Burial will follow in St. Bernard Cemetery, Rockville.
Memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, Connecticut Chapter, 200 Executive Boulevard, Suite 4B, Southington, CT 06489-1058.
