Windsor Public Schools Offer Parents Supporting Educational Excellence (PSEE) Beginning March 7

New 6-week Curriculum provides parents with skills and understanding necessary to become leaders and active participants in education

WINDSOR, CT – The Windsor Public School district, in collaboration with the Connecticut Center for School Change, and Connecticut Commission on Women, Children and Seniors (formerly Connecticut Commission on Children), will be offering FREE classes to individuals interested in learning more about leadership skills and becoming more actively engaged in the educational process. Parents SEE participants learn how to create and engage in partnerships with personnel throughout the district and in schools. These partnerships help to drive school improvement and increase student achievement. The curriculum has been retooled to be delivered in a 6-week time frame beginning with a 3-hour retreat. The sessions will run on Tuesday evenings beginning March 7 through April 25, with no class during Spring Break week in April.

“Parents SEE was developed by the Center for School Change and the Commission on Women, Children and Seniors to provide parents with skills and understanding necessary to become leaders, change agents and active participants in education at the school, district and state levels. Research studies show a clear linkage between student achievement and parent and family involvement. When schools, families and community groups work together, students do better in school and have a higher probability of success.” – Parents SEE Overview Statement, Doc.602-110609
