Winners of Clover Street Poetry Slam Announced

Clover Street fifth graders held a Poetry SLAM event for the community.

Clover Street Elementary students in the fifth grade wowed the Windsor community with their literary talents last month during their Poetry SLAM event. A competition-style poetry event held as a part of the school's Artists-in-Residence program.

There was a three-way tie for first place. Olivia McAdams, Rebecca Samuel and Tia Marie Brown all came away with first place. Jahshua Holmes and Clinton Branner tied for second place, and Marquis Wilson took home third.

The Artists-in-Residence program brought poet Reggie Marra to the school to work with students. The program is made possible by grants from the Windsor Education Foundation and the Connecticut Commission on Culture and Tourism.
