Works of Windsor Artist Featured at Duncaster Throughout November

Local painter, Barbara Alex will have her artwork displayed at the Duncaster Art Gallery throughout the month of November

Local painter, Barbara Alex will have her artwork displayed at the Duncaster Art Gallery throughout the month of November. The opening reception of this exhibit will be on Sunday, Nov. 6 at 4 p.m. The exhibit will be open to the public weekdays from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. until Dec. 2. The gallery is located on Duncaster campus at 40 Loeffler Road.

Alex’s work includes portraits in oil and landscapes in watercolors. She says that the inspiration for her portraits comes from observing the subtleties that distinguish that particular person from all others: the glint in the eyes, the tilt of the head, the laughter lines. For her watercolors Alex says, “I choose subjects that stimulate me to capture them forever as living memories to where I have been and my desire to share those feelings with people viewing my paintings. I enjoy developing my artistic skill with various watercolor papers, and styles of painting.” Alex is an elected member of Connecticut Academy of Fine Arts, Connecticut Watercolor Society, Connecticut Women Artists, and Women Artists Collective, and belongs to several art leagues. Her paintings are in many private permanent collections, and she exhibits regularly in many juried and non-juried shows in the Northeast. Alex earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree from the Hartford Art School of the University of Hartford and has continued her art studies.

Attendance for the opening reception on Nov. 6 is free and open to the public; however, advance registration is required. Visitors are welcome to view the exhibit weekdays in November from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
