Sports have a way of teaching invaluable life lessons — building character, fostering teamwork and strengthening the bonds within a community. In the Windsor Locks area, these values have shaped some truly remarkable athletes from different eras, whose accomplishments continue to inspire.
Patch is celebrating five standout athletes whose achievements have left a lasting mark on our community. This list is just a snapshot, with countless other athletes helping shape the rich sports culture in our area.
1. David Lingua (Basketball & Baseball)
A charter member of the Windsor Locks Athletic Hall of Fame, David Lingua remains the school's all-time leading scorer in basketball, with more than 1,300 career points. He once scored 40 points in a single game, a record that stood for a decade, and also helped lead the Raiders to the 1961 Class S state championship game.

2. The 1965 Windsor Locks Little League Team (Baseball)
Representing what was then a small, blue-collar town of just a few thousand, this group of local kids beat out 6,350 other teams from across the world to become Little League World Series champions. Their title remains one of the most celebrated moments in Windsor Locks sports history.
3. Jessica Berube (Hockey, Soccer, Basketball & Softball)
A four-sport athlete at Windsor Locks High School, Jessica Berube transferred to Kingswood Oxford to pursue ice hockey and scored 34 goals in her senior season. She went on to win a national championship playing for Team Connecticut in 2002.

4. Meghann Booth (Soccer, Basketball & Track)
A 2000 Windsor Locks High School graduate, Meghann Booth was named All-State in soccer twice and All-NCCC three times across her three-sport career. She went on to Eastern Connecticut State University, where she was a three-time All-Little East Conference pick.
5. Paul Callahan (Soccer & Basketball)
A three-sport athlete at Windsor Locks High School, Paul Callahan earned All-State and All-NCCC honors in soccer three times while also twice leading the basketball team in assists. He went on to play soccer at Brown University.
