6-Foot Snake Removed From Vehicle’s Engine: East Windsor Police
Police say the snake slithered its way under a vehicle and wrapped itself around the engine block: Video
EAST WINDSOR, CT — It certainly wasn’t a typical call, but police helped remove a 6-foot long snake that slithered its way under a vehicle and wrapped itself around the engine block Thursday morning in East Windsor. Police say the incident occurred on Winton Road when the snake, possibly a Boa constrictor, wrapped itself around the vehicle’s engine block.
“Officers on-scene, with the help of bystanders, were able to remove the snake and put it into a crate,” police wrote in a post on Facebook. “It is likely someone’s pet that got out in the area, but for now it will be taken to a wildlife center. Thank you to all those who helped us remove the snake. Not exactly the call we were expecting today.....”

The snake post below certainly garnered a lot of attention because of its out of the ordinary nature.

However, as I think about the incident, I can’t help but reflect on how well it exemplifies the century old adage that the community is the police and the police is the community, the police being only members of the community who are paid to give full-time attention to duties which are incumbent on every citizen in the interests of community welfare and existence.
Let me explain...
This may surprise you but we, the police, are not normally in the business of wrangling snakes. We attempted to find an Animal Control Officer to assist, but with it being a holiday, none were available nor were any pest services available. So what did we do? Cpl. Tudryn and Ofc. Mitchell sprang into action and worked with the community to resolve the issue, proving that we are indeed a #TownWideTeam and that the community and the police are one in the same!
By the way, the snake is doing very well..
