Bradley Airport Layoffs, Contractor Says

A contractor told the state the layoffs are expected to be permanent.

WINDSOR LOCKS, CT — About 100 jobs are being cut at Bradley International Airport after a contractor said it will no longer handle ground support work for Delta at the airport.

G2 Secure Staffing, LLC told the Connecticut Department of Labor in a June 19 notice that its contract with Delta at Bradley International Airport is ending. The airport is located at 11 Schoephoester Road in Windsor Locks.

The layoffs are expected to happen Aug. 19, according to the notice. The company said the job cuts are expected to be permanent.

The cuts include both full- and part-time workers. The affected workers are not union members, according to the company.

Most of the cuts involve ramp agents, with 64 of those jobs being eliminated. The notice also lists 12 wheelchair agent jobs, nine ramp lead jobs, four operations manager jobs, four operations agent jobs, four cabin service agent jobs, one training officer job, one driver/operator job, and one janitor job.

The company filed the notice under the federal Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act, also known as the WARN Act. The law generally requires companies to give advance notice of certain large layoffs or closures.
