EAST WINDSOR-WINDSOR LOCKS, CT — Residents in East Windsor and Windsor Locks will not have to go far to find fireworks, parades and other Independence Day celebrations in 2026.
This year’s Fourth of July lands on a Saturday, giving families a long July 3-5 holiday weekend. The celebration also comes during America’s 250th anniversary, adding extra attention to local parades, fireworks and community events across northern Connecticut.
In Windsor Locks, the Fire Department’s annual carnival runs June 25-27, with fireworks scheduled for Friday, June 26, at 9:30 p.m. and a parade set for Saturday, June 27. East Windsor is also marking the 250th anniversary with a parade and ice cream social on Saturday, June 27, at the East Windsor Historical Society.

The 2026 Independence Day season is part of a broader national commemoration of the signing of the Declaration of Independence and the country’s 250th anniversary.
America’s Block Party is one of the national initiatives tied to America 250, the congressionally chartered nonprofit overseeing the semiquincentennial celebration.
A Times Square Ball Drop is planned as part of the “Giving 4th Broadcast Benefit Show,” with a rolling series of ball drops timed to midnight on July 3 in every U.S. time zone.
A time capsule will be buried in Philadelphia and opened in 2276. Organizers said it will include contributions connected to the federal government, states, Washington D.C. and U.S. territories.
Other national events include the Great American State Fair on the National Mall, the July 4 Salute to America Fireworks, “Sail 4th 250” in New York Harbor and Rushmore 250.
