• Connecticut fisherman thought it was a dolphin. It was a hammerhead shark (ctpost.com) — A Windsor Locks resident had a rare close encounter with a smooth hammerhead shark while fishing off the Connecticut coast, capturing dramatic video as it slapped his boat before diving away. State fisheries experts say hammerheads are seldom seen in Long Island Sound and urge boaters to report shark sightings and safely release any accidentally caught sharks.
