EAST WINDSOR, CT — Drivers using Interstate 91 in East Windsor and Enfield will face overnight ramp closures beginning Monday, Oct. 12, as crews continue work on a highway preservation project.
The closures will affect northbound and southbound entrance and exit ramps at exits 45 through 49 and are expected to last four weeks, according to a Connecticut Department of Transportation notice shared by the Town of East Windsor.
Work is scheduled Monday through Thursday nights from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m.
"Only one ramp will be closed at a time," CTDOT said in the notice.
Electronic message boards and detour signs will direct drivers around the closures. State and local police and flaggers will also guide traffic through the work zone and along the detours, according to the department.
The notice does not give a night-by-night schedule identifying which ramp will close. Drivers should follow the posted detour for the ramp affected that evening.
The upcoming work includes guardrail replacement and upgrades, catch basin cleaning and curb installation. CTDOT said the work applies to all interstate entrance and exit ramps within the project limits.
The larger project was awarded to Tilcon Connecticut Inc.
The overall project is scheduled for completion in April 2027. The four-week estimate applies to the ramp closures announced for October.
