It is nice that Commissioner Brace prepares these fancy charts that alledgedly reflect the Crime Activity in Windsor Locks for 2012-2013. In a continued attempt to convince you that the Town of Windsor Locks needs a Big City Police Dept. Commissioner Brace has shown the Percentage Increase/Decrease in each category! Does it look impressive that CALLS FOR SERVICE were up 15%??? If you look at the bottom of his Chart “DOOR CHECKS “went up apr. 2000 and these are baked into the Calls For Service. If you examine the actual numders in each category the increase/decreases are minimal .Commissioner Brace still refuses to show you the REAL PICTURE ON CRIME IN WINDSOR LOCKS!! The Smoke and and Mirrors game from Commissioner Brace and the rest of the Police Commission must end!!!! The Town of Windsor Locks does not need “A BIG CITY POLICE DEPT” and the Taxpayers cannot afford the expenses associated with a “Big City Police Dept.”
Finance Chairman Doug Glazier believes that if he and the Finance Board bring the 2014-2015 Budget in at a near zero increase that they have done their job! How about really making a challenge when a Dept. Budget is submitting a request for $300,000 in overtime. I truly believe that the Board of Finance was swept up by the HYPE that was generated by Commissioner Brace and the Board of Finance became the Candy Store for the Police Dept. Their job is not only to make Funding Decision but to CONTROL RUNAWAY COSTS. The Police Commission and the Board of Finance FAILED TO CALCULATE THE REAL COSTS OF A BIG CITY POLICE DEPT!!!!!!!!! I believe that the Towns People need a voice on these matters and not at a Town Meeting but through a Referendum. Town Meetings are generally poorly attended.
